Adelaide Strikers, powered by Brad Hodge (56 runs from 41 balls) and Alex Ross (65 runs from 31 balls), posted a commanding total of 187/5 for the Melbourne Stars to chase.

The Stars began their chase, but the openers did not look comfortable. Marcus Stoinis and Luke Wright struggled against Kane Richardson. Richardson created not one but two chances, but the Strikers fielders spilled the chances. It was the second over of the second innings and Richardson’s first. Stoinis blocked the first one but the second ball just rose enough to make him rush into the shot.

He could not adjust to the bounce and played awkwardly to nick it to Craig Simmons at first slip. The catch looked simple at head high but Simmons drops it. It was quite unexpected.

Stoinis took advantage of it and stole a run bringing in Like Wright to the strike. It was again a short ball which Wright pulled. It hurried on a little bit at Wright who hooked with a top-edge. The keeper ran across towards square leg and dived. However, he just failed to reach the ball as the ball swirls away from him. The effort went in vain and Kane Richardson was again disappointed.

Two chances off two ball but both missed. Luke Wright could not do any harm as he was out in the next over itself, but Marcus Stoinis went on to score a half-century off 42 balls. He was eventually dismissed by Ben Laughlin in the 12th over.
