West Indies are scheduled to meet Bangladesh in their upcoming fixture in T20 World Cup 2021. The encounter takes place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 29 (Friday). Both sides are coming off two successive defeats and would like to open their account in the team standings. Defending champions West Indies have numerous T20 stalwarts in their ranks. However, the slow and spin-friendly conditions have challenged their batters. As far as Bangladesh are concerned, they were expected to do well in these conditions. However, the Mahmudullah-led side has failed to perform as a unit so far.

Head to Head record:

West Indies are just a tad ahead of Bangladesh in terms of overall head-to-head record in T20Is. These two teams have played 12 T20I matches so far. Out of which six have been won by the Caribbean side and the Bangla Tigers have won five games. One of their clashes got abandoned due to rain. As far as T20 World Cups are concerned, these two teams have met twice and the head-to-head record stands 1-1.

Top performers:

Veteran Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal boasts of a tremendous record against West Indies. He has scored the most runs (255) in the clashes. Among active cricketers, the southpaw is followed by Shakib Al Hasan    (235) and Mahmudullah (232). Among the bowlers, Shakib Al Hasan has picked up the most wickets (19). He is followed by Mustafizur Rahman (13) and Keemo Paul (13).

Last T20 World Cup meeting:

As mentioned above, these two sides have met twice in T20 World Cups. The last of those meetings was recorded in the 2014 edition. It was a pretty much one-sided affair as the Bangla Tigers never really looked in the hunt. The coin landed in Bangladesh’s favour and they elected to bowl in Dhabi. West Indies Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle embraced the challenge adding 97 runs for the first wicket.

The former was brilliant in particular as he slammed a quick-fire half-century. Although the Men in Maroon did lose quick wickets late in the innings, they still managed to post 171/7. Bangladesh’s reply couldn’t have been more terrible as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Samuel Badree and Krishmar Santokie shared seven wickets among them as the hosts were skittled out for 98, losing the contest by 73 runs.
