ASC asks for Steve Smith to stand-down as skipper

The aftermath of the incident that lands Steve Smith and his men in deep trouble, the Australian Sports Commission(ASC) called for the head of the Australian skipper. Earlier, Cricket Australia’s (CA) chief James Sutherland confirmed that an investigation regarding the ball-tampering incident was underway. However, Smith would continue as the captain after latter feels he is still the right person for the prestigious job to lead the side. Sports Commission releases a statement In response to this incident that has been raised over the Australian players and their cricket, the sports commission was quick to release a statement asking all the Australian teams and the players to demonstrate unimpeachable integrity in representing the country. As per the views of ASC, the acts of the players and the team have a lot to deal with many who look up to these individuals as role models and aspire to follow their footsteps. “The Australian cricket team are iconic representatives of our country. The example they set matters a great deal to Australia and to the thousands of young Australians playing or enjoying the sport of cricket and who look up to the national team as role models. Asks Smith to step down from captaincy After the skipper’s admission of him being in the midst of all the unlikely series of events that took place on the cricket field, the skipper is in question to step down from his duties for the team. The query also asks all those who were directly involved under the name of ‘leadership group’ to be axed from their national duties for the team. “Given the admission by Australian captain Steve Smith, the ASC calls for him to be stood down immediately by Cricket Australia, along with any other members of the team leadership group or coaching staff who had prior awareness of, or involvement in, the plan to tamper with the ball. Although, there seems to be a proper procedure to be followed before any action is taken in response to that act of ball-tampering.”This can occur while Cricket Australia completes a full investigation.”
