Good days for Ben Stokes only get better as he bought shamed footballer Adam Johnson’s mansion for a reduced price of £1.7million. The all-rounder is believed to have negotiated a deal on the five-bedroom home in County Durham, which Johnson initially put on the market for £1.85million.

It is also believed that he used the money he earned at his stint in the Indian Premier League to buy the luxury Toll Gate House in Castle Eden, Durham. The modern mansion has a gym, bar and cinema, and all traces of its previous owner, including photos, shirts and football memorabilia, were removed before would-be buyers had viewings.

Though England as a team was not able to reach the finals, Stokes himself had an individually impressive performance in the Champions Trophy including a match-winning century. After the tournament, he only played a match for Durham against Worcestershire at the County Championship where he was dismissed for a duck and conceded 81 runs without a wicket.

Hales and Buttler take a funny dig

The English all-rounder got the biggest IPL contract in history at a price of 14.5 crores. In a SportsKeeda video teammates, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler are seen indulging in some banter about Stokes talking about his rise in terms of wealth, particularly. After reminding the duo about his newly bought mansion and the IPL contract, they were asked, “Is he getting a bit big-time?” Hales said, “Sit and bowl around.” Buttler added to the joke saying. “He needs to buy a good haircut because he has the cash for it now.”

Recently, in a podcast called “The Unplayable podcast,” former Aussie captains Ian Chappell, Michael Clarke and wicketkeeper Ian Healy gave their views on the question. The trio was asked to choose their No.1 pick for drafting a World XI to play a Test match at the Gabba. Clarke said he would pick Ben Stokes as his first player in the World XI. Undoubtedly the best all rounder in cricket in the world, Stokes is the hottest property in International Cricket.
