1. 2022 T20 World Cup group stage match against Zimbabwe

South Africa faced Zimbabwe for their opening game of the T20 World Cup 2022. However, a two-hour-and-35-minute rain delay turned the game into a nine over-contest. Batting first, Zimbabwe posted 79 runs on the board with Wesley Madhevere (35 runs off 19 deliveries) top-scoring.

During the chase, Quinton de Kock blasted 23 runs off the first over but in the second over there was another rain interruption. Thus, the target had to be revised to 64 in seven overs. The Proteas' wicket-keeper batter continued to dictate terms with the bat and South Africa were at 51 in three overs, eying a comprehensive win. But the play was stopped again due to rain.

South Africa were well ahead of their five-over DLS par score when the game was halted and they would have still won had the match officials restarted the game as a five-over chase. But sadly, the rain did not stop and there was no resumption of any kind. Thus, the match was called off and both teams got one point each.
