5 players who played under Rahul Dravid's coaching in U19 and India Team

Rahul Dravid has been the head coach of Team India since November 2021 and in these two-and-a-half years, the team has recorded some superb success. After the fabulous 2023 World Cup campaign, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended his contract with the team, until the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the West Indies. Before rendering his services to Team India, Dravid was associated with the India U-19 and India A as their head coach, and under his guidance, the side won the 2018 U-19 World Cup held in New Zealand. During his stint with the U-19 team and India A, Dravid delivered some extraordinary talents to the Indian team with his coaching skills. (Photo Source : Twitter) In the 2016 U-19 World Cup, India concluded their journey as runners-up under Ishan Kishan’s captaincy. Avesh Khan, who was a premier bowler of the side, got 12 wickets in six matches at an economy of 3.48 and ended up as the leading wicket-taker for the team in the competition. Avesh Khan made his international debut for India in a T20 International (T20I) contest against the West Indies in February 2022 at Eden Gardens. After the 2022 Asia Cup, he was dropped from the Indian team but he made a comeback in the squad in December 2023 and played for the first time under Dravid’s guidance. 4. Sarfaraz Khan Sarfaraz Khan. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Sarfaraz Khan was the most successful batter for India U-19 in the 2016 U-19 World Cup, notching up 355 runs in six matches at an average of 71.00. The right-handed batter displayed his best in the final against the West Indies U-19 in Mirpur. He was the lone fighter in the game who played a 51-run knock off 89 deliveries. The Mumbai-born player made his international debut during the 2023-24 Anthony de Mello Trophy. In his debut Test, he contributed half-centuries in both innings to his team’s humongous 434-run win over England. 3. Ishan Kishan Ishan Kishan. As a batter, he failed to be impactful in the competition but was effective as a captain as he succeeded in taking India to the final. The left-handed batter made his debut for India before Rahul Dravid’s joining as a coach. In December 2022, Kishan became the fourth Indian batter to score a double ton in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved this feat against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury (ZAC) Stadium. Following Kishan’s memorable century, Dravid was seen celebrating in the dressing room. 2. Shubman Gill Shubman Gill. He racked up 372 runs in five innings of six matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 112.38 and ended up as the second-leading run-getter in the tournament. Gill played his maiden international game against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). After Dravid’s appointment as a coach, the young batter smashed a double ton against New Zealand in a One-Day International (ODI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in January 2023. 1. He played six games in the competition and scored 267 runs with two fifties and a hundred. With these numbers, he was the second-most successful batter for his team in the tournament. His notable performance made him famous in the cricketing circle. In February 2017, he made his international debut and after two years, he also went to England to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan in India’s 2019 World Cup squad. Pant is also one of the players who has worked with Rahul Dravid in both junior and senior teams.
