3. Rajat Patidar

In IPL 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore picked Rajat Patidar as an injury replacement for Luvnith Sisodia, and the 29-year-old grabbed this golden opportunity with both hands. He took top-quality attacks to the cleaners and made the cash-rich league his own. The Indore-born featured in eight games and scored 333 runs at a superb strike rate of 152.75.

After a memorable IPL campaign, Patidar has been brilliant in the Indian domestic circuit as well. In the recently culminated Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022, the Madhya Pradesh batter smashed 272 runs in six games at a stunning strike rate of 178.94. Courtesy of his sensational showings, the ace batter has been included in the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh. However, there is a high possibility that he might not get a game in the entire series.

Kohli has been India’s designated number three for over a decade and the same will be the case in the upcoming ODI series. When it comes to the middle order, there is already a logjam in the presence of top-drawer batters such as Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant in the mix. Thus, finding a place for Patidar in the playing XI  shall be quite difficult. Hence, one might witness the flamboyant batter warming the bench in the entire series.
