1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is one of the top-drawer batters going around in the Indian circuit. He has put up an exhibition of his elegant stroke play in the international arena and taken top-quality bowling attacks apart. The 23-year-old has been simply sensational in the ODIs, scoring 687 runs in 15 games at an average of 57.25.

However, the ace batter has not had the same success in the longest format of the game. Gill has made promising starts to his innings but has failed to convert them into big scores. He has featured in 11 Tests and scored 579 runs at an average of 30.47. In India’s last Test match, which was against England, the Punjab-born opened the innings for the Men in Blue but could only score a total of 21 runs in both innings.

Gill has not been able to make a statement with his batting exploits in the Test arena. So, with India’s first-choice openers Rahul and Rohit back in the team for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, it might not be possible for the flamboyant batter to find a place in the starting XI.
