England aren’t having a great time in this World Cup, losing three of their four matches. They faced an embarrassing nine-wicket defeat against New Zealand in the opening game but Root looked confident with his bat, notching up 77 runs off 86 deliveries with five boundaries (four fours and a maximum).

Root looked fine against Bangladesh in Dharamshala again. The batting legend smashed a half-century to help his team post 364 runs on the board. Following this match, the veteran player struggled with his bat against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Root didn’t have a great day as a batter against the Afghan side but displayed alertness while fielding. He took four catches in the game to help his team restrict the Afghan side to 284 runs. Fielding at the long-on area, Root took a sensational running catch to send dangerous Rashid Khan back to the pavilion.
