IPL 2023: 3 released players of MI who could be in high demand in auction

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League, having won the IPL crown on five occasions. However, MI were far from their best at the 15th edition of the T20 extravaganza. Rohit Sharma & co. failed to get their act together and struggled to string consecutive victories under their belt. As a result, they were the wooden spoon holders of the competition, winning just four out of their 14 games.

In a bid to get back to their vintage self, the Mumbai franchise have made some wholesale changes to their squad and let go of 13 players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Among the players who were released by MI, there are certain players who are proven performers in the T20 circuit and have a high chance of fetching big bucks at the upcoming auction.

3. Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat made his IPL debut in 2010 and has been a regular feature in the lucrative T20 tournament since then. The left-arm pacer wreaked havoc in the 2017 season which saw him bag 24 scalps in 12 games at an economy of 7.02. However, barring the 10th edition, he has not been able to deliver the goods with the ball.

Mumbai Indians roped in the ace pacer to bolster their bowling line-up. However, Unadkat failed to set the stage on fire with his showings. Though the 31-year-old bagged six wickets in five games, he leaked runs at an economy of 9.50. Following his mediocre outings, the Porbandar-born was dropped from the team. MI decided not to retain the Indian pacer for the next season and thus, he is likely to feature at the 2023 player auction.

Unadkat is an experienced campaigner and picked 91 wickets in as many games played in the IPL. Also, the 31-year-old being a left-arm pacer adds variety to the team’s seam attack. Therefore, many franchises could raise their paddle to pick him at the forthcoming auction.
