2. Rishabh Pant vs New Zealand, Bengaluru, 2024
Rishabh Pant fell agonizingly short of a century in the opening Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He is known for his aggressive stroke play, and was rebuilding India's innings alongside Sarfaraz Khan after a poor scoring in his previous innings in the same match.
As he was so close to a match-defining ton, he was undone by a delivery with extra bounce from pacer Will O’Rourke. He attempted a cut shot, but chopped the ball onto his stumps and was bowled for 99. The dismissal was a bitter moment in what had been a fighting innings. This was also the seventh time Pant was dismissed in his nineties, which is the most for a wicketkeeper-batter across formats.
