7. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami looked sensational for India in the World Cup 2023, bagging 24 wickets in just seven matches at an economy of 5.26. The paceman grabbed a fifer and guided the Men in Blue to a fabulous four-wicket victory on the very first match he played. He picked up another fifer in India’s humongous 302-run win and became the highest wicket-taker for India in the World Cup, surpassing Zaheer Khan (44 wickets in 23 matches) and Javagal Srinath (44 wickets in 34 matches).
In the massive semi-final game, he chipped in with 7/57 figures and became the first Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets in ODI World Cups. Indian cricket team fans will want to see 33-year-old Shami in the next World Cup installment but considering his age, it might become difficult for the veteran to be a part of India’s 2027 campaign.
