Now, even though he has been a very successful opener for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, he couldn’t replicate that in India. Odean Smith West Indies' very own Odean Smith was roped in by the Punjab Kings for a whopping 6 crores at the IPL auction ahead of the 2022 season. The allrounder played six matches for Punjab in IPL 2022 and took six wickets at an economy rate of 11.87. With the bat, Smith just scored 51 runs at a strike rate of 115.91. Thus, he had a pretty mediocre outing in both departments for the franchise. In the absence of Andre Russell, Odean Smith will be expected to play an important role for the West Indies during the T20 World Cup. He is an explosive batter but consistency has been his biggest challenge. Chris Jordan Chris Jordan was seen as the answer to Chennai Super Kings’ death over woes but in the limited opportunities that he got, Jordan failed to impress. The 33-year-old is known as a death-over specialist but he wasn’t trusted with the responsibility after a few games. Jordan played four matches for Chennai in IPL 2022 and picked up two wickets in the process. His economy rate of 10.52 was also on the higher side and thus Chennai eventually decided to bench him. However, his performance for England has been good over the years. In the 81 T20Is that Jordan has played thus far, he has taken 90 wickets at an economy rate of 8.67. Since he is an asset at the death, Jordan is going to be an important figure for the England team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. 2. James Neesham The Kiwi allrounder has done extremely well for New Zealand in the last few years but when it comes to the IPL, he has neither got a lot of opportunities nor has he done exceedingly well. In IPL 2022, Neesham played only two matches and bowled only three overs for Rajasthan Royals. At an economy rate of 9.67, Neesham failed to pick up a single wicket for the runner-ups in the last season. With the bat, he just scored 31 runs at a strike rate of 114.81. The batting allrounder is a key part of New Zealand’s plan for the T20 World Cup. Even though he had a poor IPL 2022, the team management trusts his skill and hence he will play an important role in Australia. 1. Pat Cummins Australia's Test captain is a very important figure in the Kolkata Knight Riders' dressing room. Despite being such an important player, Cummins didn’t have a good IPL 2022 season. The speedster just featured in five matches for KKR in the season and picked up seven wickets at an economy rate of 10.69. He was punished at the death and based on his performance, Cummins was dropped from the playing XI. However, with the bat, Cummins played two memorable knocks and that is the kind of variety he can provide. Bought for 7.25 crores, Cummins failed to perform well in the IPL 2022 but as the T20 World Cup is scheduled to happen in Australia, it is likely he will raise his game. He is a dangerous player and knows what needs to be done to win games of cricket. The defending champions will back the speedster and he is expected to do well in the upcoming tournament.
