'Form is temporary but class is permanent' - there are a set of cricketers, who might not be very consistent with their form but can be extremely dangerous on their day. Virat Kohli, for instance, was going through a rough patch leading into the Asia Cup 2022 but the team management backed the former captain and, Kohli finished as the second leading run-scorer in the tournament.

So, support is something that’s very important to help a player get through tough situations. The five players we have on our list this time had a pretty underwhelming IPL 2022 season but their respective cricket boards backed them and have included them in their squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Let’s jump straight into the list:

5 IPL flops who are part of the T20 World Cup 2022

5. Matthew Wade

Even though Matthew Wade was a significant part of Australia's T20 World Cup 2021 winning squad, the Aussie failed to light up the IPL 2022. No one can question the potential that the 34-year-old has got but Wade couldn't pull off a single match-winning knock for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.

With a highest score of 35 against Rajasthan Royals in the first Qualifier, Wade scored 157 runs in ten matches that he played in IPL 2022. He aggregated a strike rate of 113.77, which is not up to the mark for a player of Wade's caliber.

Now, even though he has been a very successful opener for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, he couldn’t replicate that in India.

The wicket-keeper batter plays in the lower middle-order for Australia and has played many crucial knocks down there including his recent fiery innings against India in the first T20I at Mohali on Tuesday (September 20). He is going to be a very important player for Australia in the T20 World Cup and hopefully, fans will be able to see Wade come back in the IPL for the next edition, even after an average 2022 season.
