Karnataka has also had a rich cricketing history due to some state-of-the-art academies over time. Ahead of the 2025/26 domestic season, Karnataka possess the second-most Ranji Trophy titles after Mumbai who have a whopping 42 to their name. Cricketers like Gundappa Viswanath, Javagal Srinath, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and KL Rahul amongst others have come from Karnataka cricketing circle and donned the India colours.

Viswanath and Dravid were known for the technical prowess in their batting approaches and were both tough nuts to crack for even the best of bowlers. On the other hand, Srinath was regarded as one of the finest pacers to play the sport, while Kumble's wily leg spin and wicket-taking prowess was unmatched.
