Match 25 of IPL 2024 saw the Mumbai Indians take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wnkhede Stadium. Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians won the toss and put RCB in to bat first. One change was made by the hosts with Shreyas Gopal coming in for Piyush Chawla. On the other hand, there were three made by the visitors, with Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, and Vijaykumar Vyshak coming in for Cameron Green, Mayank Dagar, and Yash Dayal, respectively.

It wasn't to be for RCB's icon, Virat Kohli, as he got dismissed for only 3. However, skipper Faf du Plessis took the game deep by sticking around till the 17th over, courtesy of a 40-ball 61-run knock, anchoring the innings quite well. Rajat Patidar came back well after a really lacklustre start to the season, coming good with a half-century to his name, striking at 192.30.

However, the standout performers of the first innings were veterans Dinesh Karthik and Jasprit Bumrah, for two totally different reasons, Karthik for bringing up his first fifty of the tournament by playing some blisteringly unorthodox shots, and Jasprit Bumrah, for dismantling the batting order into finely pulverized powder, much like a crusher obliterates ores of metallic compounds into ultra-fine particles, picking up his second five-for in the history of the marquee tournament.

In reply, MI started the chase with a bang, with RCB having no clue where and how to bowl. After smashing 72 in the first six, the writing was already on the wall for RCB, with Kishan ending up scoring 69 of the 101 runs MI stitched for the first wicket. After recovering from a silver duck in Suryakumar Yadav's previous outing, he came in with just one mood - to absolutely tear apart the opponent, with him scoring a mind-blowing 52 (19). Skipper Pandya and Tilak Varma made MI cross over the line quite comfortably, with the former hitting three maximums and the latter stroking as many fours.

IPL 2024 Points Table

After the Gujarat Titans defeated the Rajasthan Royals in Match 24 of IPL 2024, GT went up one position from seventh to sixth place, with RR still occupying the top spot. MI replaced PBKS on the basis of a superior net run rate with a second win on the bounce against RCB, who in turn, retain their ninth position, but with a much more inferior net run rate than before.

Most Runs in IPL 2024

Currently atop the top run-getters list, Virat Kohli couldn't really capitalise on his tally, managing only three runs before being caught behind off fellow Indian teammate Jasprit Bumrah's delivery. An oscillating pattern emerges among the upcoming batters, with two batters representing both the Rajasthan Royals and the Gujarat Titans.

Most Wickets in IPL 2024

Following Jasprit Bumrah's fantabulous spell of 5/21 being IPL 2024's best figures so far, Yuzvendra Chahal got superceded from the top position, owing to Bumrah's superior economy rate. The rest of the list entails bowlers representing different franchises, making the race to the Purple Cap all the more assorted as of now.
