Irfan Pathan to make commentary return with India's England tour
Pathan is set to return behind the mic as India embark on a five-match Test series against England.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan was not a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 commentary panel. However, he is set for a comeback during India's upcoming tour of England.
After missing duties at IPL 2025, Pathan launched his official YouTube channel where he analyses IPL games and the performances of players. His channel became an instant hit and boasts a nearly 700,000 followers.
Meanwhile, Pathan's time away from commentary is set to end as he is part of the Sony Sports Network's Hindi commentary panel. He will join the likes of Vivek Razdan, Ashish Nehra, Ajay Jadeja, Saba Karim, and RP Singh, with Gaurav Kapur and Arjun Pandit being the anchors.
Meanwhile, the English panel is equally decorated with Cheteshwar Pujara, Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle, Michael Vaughan, Michael Atherton, and Nasser Hussain set to grace the microphone. Sanjana Ganesan will be the host.
The five-match Test tour between India and England begins on June 20, with the first game scheduled to be held at Headingley, Leeds. The second Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from July 2-6, the third one at Lord's from July 10 to 14, the fourth at the Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23 to 27. The fifth and final encounter will be played at the Oval from July 31 to August 4.
The series will mark the beginning of a new era for India as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the longest format earlier this month while veteran off-spinner had hung his boots during the 2024-25 Bordar-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, which India lost 3-1.
The BCCI has named an 18-member squad for the series, with Shubman Gill named the captain and Rishabh Pant his deputy.
India squad: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana
