The anticipation for the T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, is through the roof. Everyone from all across the world wants to be a part of history as two-old rivals clash for the T20I cricket’s ultimate prize.
With the event gaining attention all around the world, getting tickets for the ultimate clash has become a phenomenon. If the reports are to be believed, the prices for the final have reached an otherworldly cap of INR 2-3 lakh per ticket.
The official tickets, which officially started at 2000 INR, were sold out within a few minutes on BookMyShow, prompting fans to take the other route and try and get the tickets through alternative methods.
Seizing the opportunity, scalpers have taken over the resale market, driving ticket prices multple times above their original value as fans look to secure a ticket for the blockbuster clash. The massive demand is largely fuelled by supporters who are excited to watch India team secure back-to-back titles at the venue. More than 100,000 spectators, the majority backing the home side, are expected to pack the stadium for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand.
While responding to the reports, Gujarat Cricket Association president secretary Anil Patel clarified that no such practice is supported by the association, and they are only providing the tickets in official and legal ways.
“Bookings happen only through the BookMyShow app. The cricket association does not sell any physical tickets,” GCA secretary Anil Patel was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
Not just the ticket market, even the hotels in and around the venue have ballooned their prices, taking advantage of the situation. The hotels nearby Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway and Gandhinagar, which usually takes 4000 INR per night, are now charging over ten times of that.
