The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Mullanpur on Friday, May 30. But, MI has seemingly been hit with injury concerns ahead of the crucial clash.

A recent video from an airport which has gone viral, shows MI players Deepak Chahar and Tilak Varma wearing knee braces. Both players appeared to be in discomfort while walking, with heavy taping seen around their thighs which raised questions about their fitness ahead of the big match.

Chahar sustained a hamstring injury during MI's recent encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He bowled his first over as a maiden but conceded 28 runs in his next two overs. Meanwhile, Tilak injured his knee while fielding in the same game.

In terms of performance this season, Tilak has scored 274 runs in 11 innings which includes two half-centuries. Chahar has picked up 11 wickets in 14 matches at an economy rate of 9.17.

The Hardik Pandya-led team had a slow start to their campaign but bounced back with a streak of victories to secure a playoff spot. They finished fourth in the league stage with eight wins and six losses. Suryakumar Yadav has been the top scorer for MI, scoring 640 runs in 14 matches, while Trent Boult leads the bowling charts for the team with 19 wickets.

On the other hand, GT was consistent throughout the IPL 2025 but had a poor ending to their league-stage games with back-to-back losses. They will also aim to bounce back from the defeats and showcase their full potential in the do-or-die clash. GT will miss the presence of Jos Buttler, whereas MI also will play in the absence of Will Jacks.
