Rovman Powell has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against Pakistan due to a wrist injury. Cricket West Indies have announced that they will not name a replacement for the 32-year-old middle-order batter.

Powell sustained during the fourth of the five T20Is against Australia as he reached out to grab a catch. He was not in the XI for the final match of that series as well as the first and second one for the current one.    The third T20I in current series will be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill after which they will fly down to Tarouba in Trinidad & Tobago to play the three-match ODI series. Having last represented West Indies in July 2023 in ODIs, it is unlikely that Powell would be a part of the upcoming ODI series.

Meanwhile, the current T20I series against the Salman Ali Agha-led team is tied at 1-1, after the Windies got over the line in the second contest by a narrow two-wicket margin. Jason Holder put in an all-round display with bat (16* off 10) and ball (4/19 in four overs) to see his side home. He also picked up a couple of catches during Pakistan's innings in which they scored 133 for the loss of nine wickets.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was required to defend eight in the final over. He conceded only five in his first five balls, including the wicket of Romario Shepherd (15 off 11). With three required off the final delivery, Holder shuffled across and swiped the full delivery through the fielders at square leg and fine leg. This brought an end to a treacherous run of form for West Indies in T20Is as they had lost six back-to-back T20Is before the game.
