Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer, is utterly disappointed with cricket in Delhi. The southpaw was left dumbfounded after a fight broke out in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, December 29. In a clip doing the rounds on social media, a few people were seen throwing punches at each other and the scenario wasn’t a healthy one by any means.

Gambhir, who retired from cricket last year in December, termed Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) as shameless. The Indian veteran urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to look into the matter and dissolve Delhi cricket with immediate effect.

Gambhir also called for sanctions to be imposed one those, who caused the ugly fight during an important meeting. Gambhir didn’t forget to tag Sourav Ganguly, the president of the BCCI, and Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and son of Union Minister Amit Shah.

Gambhir captioned the video and wrote, “DDCA GOES “ALL OUT”…AND DDCA IS ALL OUT FOR A SHAMEFUL DUCK. Look, how handful of crooks are making mockery of an institution. I’d urge @BCCI @SGanguly99 @JayShah to dissolve @delhi_cricket immediately. Surely, sanctions or even a life ban for those involved.”

Gambhir at loggerheads with the DDCA

Gautam Gambhir has lately been very critical of the DDCA. Back in August 2019, Navdeep Saini donned the national colours for the maiden time in the T20I series versus the West Indies. There he picked up three wickets, including that of Kieron Pollard. Gambhir has always backed the pacer and even went to allege that the DDCA once tried to block the pacer’s career.

He also accused DDCA’s Bishen Singh Bedi, also a former Indian spinner, off nepotism. Gambhir said that Bedi wanted to get his son, Angad, in Delhi’s age group teams. Later, Bedi replied, saying that he “can’t stoop to conquer”. Gambhir also didn’t miss out on lashing out at Chetan Chauhan.

Both Bedi and Chauhan were part of a faction of the DDCA, who didn’t approve of Gambhir’s move to include Saini in Delhi’s state team. As far as the brawl in the AGM is concerned, reactions of Ganguly and the other dignitaries of the BCCI remains to be seen.
