Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Kiran More has come out in support of the best stumper in the country to date MS Dhoni after the later is been criticized for his slow innings in the last few games. According to More, Dhoni is an integral part and has played a key role in the side’s success in limited-overs cricket.

The veteran has been under the critics’ radar for not scoring quickly in the death overs. Dhoni’s batting positions have been lower down the order where the ask is to come out and start hitting big from ball one. However, in the last part of his career, the 36-year-old isn’t at his very best and doing that on a consistent basis is beyond him.

Earlier former opener Virender Sehwag has mentioned that India should try to find out a new finisher and send Dhoni higher up in the order.

Dhoni important as a player

More who was speaking to International Business Times India said that there shouldn’t be a question on Dhoni’s position in the side. He also mentioned that more than anything the two Indian wrist spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have benefitted because of Dhoni’s input from behind the wicket.

“Dhoni is very important as a player. There is no question mark about him. He is a key figure in the team. The bowlers, especially the two young spinners, are benefitting immensely from his presence. He is so important behind the wicket. He has been telling them where to bowl and what to bowl,” said the former wicketkeeper-batsman who represented them in 49 Tests and 94 ODIs.

More also mentioned that apart from the spinners, Indian skipper Virat Kohli too has gained a lot because of Dhoni’s presence on the field. “I think he has been doing this for so many years. Now that is benefitting Virat Kohli immensely because he gets a free hand to think about the bowlers, think about the field placements. He can focus on his own batting,” More said.

According to him, the 36-year-old Dhoni is the key to perfection for Indian cricket at the moment as he is helping the captain along with other players with his experience.
