No doubts that Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal can win Tests for India: Sunil Gavaskar

The Indian wrist-spinners have dismantled the South African batting lineup in the ongoing ODI series. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have picked up 30 wickets in the first 5 games of the 6-match ODI series against South Africa. The two have played a massive role in India winning their first-ever series win against South Africa in South Africa.

The two had replaced established Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja after the finals of Champions Trophy which India lost against arch-rivals Pakistan. The praise for the duo-spinners has been coming from every corner of the world as the two continue to dominate the batters through their performance.

Former India captain and BCCI contracted commentator Sunil Gavaskar in a column written for news daily Times of India have heaped praises on the two and felt that the two should get a chance to be in the Test side of the country whenever India tours overseas for a Test series.

Exciting to see the wrist spinners: Gavaskar

Gavaskar wrote that the South African bowlers even after facing the two in 5 one-dayers are not sure which way the ball is going to turn. Gavaskar termed the bowling for Yadav and Chahal most exciting in India’s series win against the Protea.

Gavaskar mentioned that Kuldeep has already made his debut for India in whites and has proved how effective the 23-year-old can be in the longest format of the game. Gavaskar wrote in the column that even Bumrah made a great start in the red ball cricket and felt that there’s no reason even Chahal can play the red ball cricket and win matches for India.

With India playing a number of games overseas, 68-year-old Gavaskar wrote that India needs to start preparing for the overseas tours now. He also mentioned that before the first Test against Australia, India should play a couple of practice games to get themselves understand the condition better.
