The Royal Challengers Bangalore wear their green jersey for one match every year in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a part of their go green campaign. RCB skipper Virat Kohli also hands over the opposition skipper a plant as a gesture. The team also promotes the use of bicycles over other modes of transport and requests the fans to ride their way to the stadium.

This time around RCB will play the match against inaugural IPL champion and the returning franchise Rajasthan Royals. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15. For the particular match, the players have their Twitter handles on the back of the jersey and not their names.

RCB’s new principal sponsor

RCB tied up with Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd as their new principal partner which gives them the solus position on the back of the team jersey to place their brand logo ‘Duraguard Cement’. The details about the go green game were also announced at the same event.

The franchise unveiled the jersey for IPL 2018 and at the event, Madhumita Basu, chief of sales marketing and innovation of the company told reporters that “We also support the green initiative and this year the match will be on April 15.”

RCB’s jersey for the match is made with recycled plastic.

“We salute RCB’s sustainability approach of playing one game each season with a green jersey made of recycled plastic. Incidentally, Duraguard Cement is also available in Green bags.”

“We are proud and delighted to be associated as principal partner with a dynamic and unique team like RCB. Their style of play is quite innovative and the squad is dynamic and charismatic with players like AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav; not to mention skipper Virat Kohli,” she added.
