IPL 2021: Andre Russell emerges victorious in KKR's unique pool wrestling challenge

With the 2021 Indian Premier League having resume in the United Arab Emirates from September 19, all the teams have been involved in intense battles with the playoff race gradually heating up. Speaking of heat, there is no scarcity of it in the torrid weather conditions of the gulf country.

However, in between matches, training and backbreaking gym sessions, the players ensure to not miss out on taking a little bit of a breather. In one of such recreational team bonding exercises of Kolkata Knight Riders, their squad members wrestled inside a pool, with Andre Russell emerging victorious even off the field due to his brute force.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ impressive restart 

Meanwhile, speaking of KKR’s campaign, the team has made a brilliant restart to their campaign, having defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians so far. One of the main performers from the KKR camp has been opening batter Venkatesh Iyer, who has been a revelation for the franchise. He recently credited former India and KKR player and now BCCI president Sourav Ganguly for playing a major role in his cricketing life.

“Honesty, KKR was the first franchise I wanted to be part of purely because of Sourav Ganguly. He was the captain initially, so when I got picked for KKR, that was a dream come true moment for me to be honest. I got a very warm welcome on joining KKR,” Iyer in a video that has been posted on IPLT20.com.

“I am huge fan of Dada. He has got millions of fans across the globe and I am one of them. Dada has played a huge role in my batting indirectly. I used to bat right-handed when I was young. But I wanted to replicate Dada exactly – the way he hit sixes, the way he batted and bowled. He has played a huge role, unknowingly, in my life and I am really grateful for that,” said the 26-year-old.
