Match 69 of IPL 2022 will witness Mumbai Indians squaring up against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Rohit Sharma’s side has had a disappointing IPL 2022. The five-time champions have nothing to play for, but they will be hoping to treat their fans with a win to end the season on a positive note.

Mumbai is coming into this game after a narrow three-run loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game. Tim David had almost won the match for Mumbai against SRH. MI might play with the same squad as they would look to persist with the youngsters to showcase their talent for the next season.

Here’s a look at the Mumbai Indians’ predicted playing XI against Delhi Capitals:

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan

Rohit Sharma has endured a tough time in this year’s IPL as the opener has scored 266 runs averaging 20.46. This might be only the 2nd time that the Mumbai skipper may fail to reach the 300 run mark in the competition, his 286 in 2018 being the first one. The Indian skipper has had good starts in a few games but failed to capitalize on any of those, he hasn’t even scored a single half-century this season.

Ishan Kishan, just like his skipper, has had a disappointing tournament as well. The southpaw, who is known for being explosive upfront, has struggled in most of the matches this season. The openers will look to continue their good form from the last game, where they had shared a 95-run opening stand.

Middle-Order: Tilak Varma, Tristan Stubbs and Tim David

Tilak Varma has been one of the finds of IPL 2022. The middle-order batter has looked solid and had steadied the ship for Mumbai on numerous occasions. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma praised the 19- year old by saying that the youngster has the potential to represent the Indian team in all three formats.

Tristan Stubbs was brought into the Mumbai team as a replacement for the injured Tymal Mills. The 21-year-old South African is a talented middle-order batsman and has also been included in the South African T20 squad for their India tour in June this year.

Tim David is another player who has gotten the attention for his big-hitting ability. The Singaporean-Australian cricketer was dropped in from the squad earlier this season, but his recent performances have shown, what the team has lacked in IPL 2022. His 18 ball 46 in the previous encounter against SRH almost got his side home, he smashed Natarajan for four sixes in the 18th over, including a gigantic 114m six.

All-Rounders: Daniel Sams, Ramandeep Singh and Sanjay Yadav

Daniel Sams has bagged 12 wickets in IPL 2022 so far and has looked impressive with his variations. The Aussie is also known for his big-hitting abilities and was sent in at No. 3 in the last match, but failed to make an impression.

Ramandeep Singh is playing in his debut season this year. The Right-arm quick had a great outing against SRH as he finished with impressive figures of 3/20 in his four overs, with an economy of 6.70.

Sanjay Yadav also made his IPL debut when Mumbai Indians drafted the left-handed all-rounder in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was picked up for INR 50 lakhs during the auctions in February 2022.

Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith and Mayank Markande

Jasprit Bumrah is another senior player who has had a below-par season in comparison to his high standards. The Indian quick has picked up just 12 wickets in 13 games of IPL 2022. Although, his figures of 5/10 against KKR is the best of this season so far. The yorker specialist has looked like himself in the last few games as he has been impressive at the death overs.

Riley Meredith has picked up a total of 8 wickets so far this season. The Australian pacer has been expensive in his spells and has failed to provide support to the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams.

Mayank Markande played his first game of the season against SRH, but the leggie failed to leave a mark as he went for 31 runs in his three overs. Mumbai would want him to spin a web against the Delhi Capitals in their last game of IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians’ predicted playing XI for the DC clash: Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(wk), Tilak Varma, Tristan Stubbs, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Ramandeep Singh, Sanjay Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith, Mayank Markande.
