The English team has arrived in India for the limited-overs leg of the tour. There were speculations about the participation of one of the key members of their team – Joe Root. The batting mainstay was expecting the birth of his first child and hence had not given a green signal for the series. Notwithstanding, the English batting mainstay was blessed with a baby boy earlier than expected.

The official social media handle of BBC confirmed that Root will be a part of the ODI and T20I series against India. It mentioned that Root will be available for selection for the first ODI against India on Sunday. They tweeted, “@root66 will be available for the 1st ODI v India on Sunday after the birth of his son #bbccricket.”

They also posted a picture of Joe Root along with the tweet. While most of the English fans were delighted to see the news, his team-mate Ben Stokes found it as the ideal time to take a dig at him. Both Stokes and Root are known to share great camaraderie on and off the field. This was evident from the way the allrounder decided to troll Root over the tweet by BBC. He had the opportunity and Stokes cashed on it big time.

He took a dig at the picture that the BBC had shared along with the tweet. He mentioned that he only hopes that Root’s son will never see this picture of his father. Ben Stokes found the picture to be absolutely hilarious. No wonder why he could not stop himself from laughing and tweeting about it. He tweeted, “let’s hope your lad never sees this pose Rooty.”

Coming to the Indian tour, England were recently drubbed 0-4 in the Test series. They are now hoping to put on an improved performance in the coloured outfits. They will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is during the tour. The ODI series commences on January 15 with the first ODI scheduled to be played at Pune. The T20I series will commence on January 26.
