WPL Purple Cap Winners List from 2023 to 2025

The Purple Cap in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is a prestigious award given to the bowler who takes the most wickets in a season. This coveted prize showcases excellence in the bowling department. In the inaugural WPL season, Hayley Matthews from Mumbai Indians claimed the Purple Cap for her 16 wickets in 10 matches, alongside Sophie Ecclestone of UP Warriorz, who also took 16 wickets but with a higher strike rate. Amelia Kerr, Matthews’ teammate, finished third with 15 wickets.

In the second season, which saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinching their maiden title, young Indian spinner Shreyanka Patil topped the list with 13 wickets in eight matches. Apart from winning the purple cap, she was also named the Emerging Player of the Season. Her best performance came against Delhi Capitals in the summit clash, where the off-spinner bagged a four-wicket haul. Asha Sobhana and Sophie Molineux who also played for RCB were the next two contenders for the award, finishing with 12 wickets each.

With the next season set to begin in February, the bowlers will be once again put test and will have to outclass the top batter with their skills. As the competition moves towards its third edition, the quality of cricket is expected to go one step higher, and the players have to be on top of their game to shatter the previous records.
