2) Babar Azam (PAK)

Babar Azam is often called the next big thing in world cricket. The amount of talent possessed by this young Pakistani boy was quite evident in his first few International innings itself. Babar grabbed the limelight when he got selected for the Pakistan U-19 squad when he was just 15. He played another U-19 World Cup, this time as a skipper, and was the highest run-getter for his team.

After a few years of domestic cricket, he was drafted in the National team in 2015 where run-scoring seemed quite easy for him. Babar scored his 5th ODI ton in only 25 innings, slower than only Quinton De Kock. He scored 1306 runs in his first 25 innings which was the highest by any batsman.

Babar Azam is also a wonderful Test batsman and is the backbone of his team’s batting order. He is often compared to Virat Kohli because of his extensive batting talent and consistency. Babar proved these comparisons true as he surpassed Virat Kohli as the number 1 ranked ODI batsman in April 2021. Recently, he was also handed the captaincy of his team and has done an excellent job, losing only 1 bilateral series after taking up the duty.

Even though Pakistan suffered a humiliating loss in their home series against New Zealand earlier this year, the Men in Green have done fairly well, especially with the team going through a transition with several new players looking to cement their place in Azam's guidance and leadership. Pakistan will now start their new campaign against Sri Lanka in the Island nation, where Babar Azam will look to lead from the front with some spectacular batting performances for his team.
