Abhishek Nayar, the 34-year all-rounder, has a truckload of experience at the first-class level for Mumbai for whom he has played 99 matches. He has flourished in all departments with 5627 runs and 164 wickets in white-clothing cricket. However, he hasn’t quite been able to feature consistently in the Mumbai Ranji team from the last season. He played only five matches last season.

Moreover, he wasn’t included in the pre-season camp of Mumbai’s upcoming domestic campaign. The omission has added to his frustration and he will now be representing Puducherry. Nayar also has an experience of 93 List A and 95 T20 matches. Moreover, the Hyderabad-born cricketer represented India in three One Day Internationals back in 2009.

Rohit’s words of praises for Nayar

Unfortunately, he bowled three overs and played seven deliveries, combining the three encounters and thereafter went out of the national selectors’ radar. After he decided to bid goodbye to Mumbai cricket, Rohit Sharma, the Indian batsman, got emotional. Rohit made his first-class debut back in 2006 and has played alongside Nayar on quite a number of times for Mumbai.

The 31-year-old took to Twitter and wrote, “One of Mumbais stalwarts is biding adieu to Mumbai cricket. I have known this guy for a long time and I can honestly say he’s the most selfless man I have met. Giving back to the game/players is his forte. Good luck with all the exciting things ahead buddy @abhisheknayar1,”.

Rohit Sharma recently played in India’s T20I and ODI series against Ireland and England. He scored a couple of tons against the Brits and a 90 against the Irishmen, but couldn’t stake his claim into the Test team, which is currently playing a five-match series against the Poms. The World Cup in England and Wales is scheduled to be played next year and Rohit is expected to be a vital cog in their setup.
