After Rohit Sharma’s Men lost to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, New Zealand all-rounder, Jimmy Neesham responded to abusive messages from disappointed Indian fans.

Known for his straightforward tweets, Neesham responded to the brutal and abusive messages by simply flicking off the abusers. He used a hilariously edited meme to inform them that the Australia that beat India by 6 wickets wasn’t the same country as New Zealand.

Here's James Neesham's story:

India had successfully beaten New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-final to reach the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. After winning the toss, India posted a total of 397/4 in the first semi-final against Kiwis at Wankhede Stadium. Mohammed Shami ended up with seven wickets and was awarded Player of the Match for his stunning bowling figures of 7/57 as New Zealand were eventually bundled out for 327.

On Sunday night, India took on Australia, eyeing for a third World Cup win. However, their dreams were shattered by Australia who outclassed them in pretty much all departments. Chasing India’s 241, Aussie’s man in red-hot form and opener Travis Head scored a sensational 137, helping the Pat Cummins’ side reach the target with ease and six wickets to spare. This was Australia’s sixth ODI World Cup win, a staggering record in its own right.

Head was deservedly given Player of the Match for his sublime ton and subsequently entered the elite list of Australian cricketers who smashed a three-figure score in a World Cup final.

Virat Kohli, the star Indian batter, was honoured with the Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding performance, scoring over 700 runs in the marquee event. Meanwhile, Shami was recognized as the best bowler of the tournament, taking 24 wickets.

Despite these individual achievements, India were unable to lift the trophy, leaving fans heartbroken once again. The Indian team have not been able to win an ICC trophy since their 2013 Champions Trophy triumph under MS Dhoni.
