India women find themselves in quite the tussle with Australia women in their ongoing three-game T20I series. Level on the score, both sides have it all to play for in the third and final T20I, which is slated to begin on Tuesday, January 9. After winning the first T20I, India hoped to put in a similar performance in the second game, but things didn't go as planned.

Youngster Shreyanka Patil set out to perform to the best of her abilities and even get the wicket of ace Australia batter Ellyse Perry; however, reality proved to be very different for the 21-year-old. It is worth noting that the second T20I of the series between India and Australia was Perry’s 300th international game, and she celebrated the occasion by hitting the winning six with Patil on the receiving end.

Scoring 34* runs in 21 deliveries, Perry finished the job for Australia and helped the side win the game by six wickets. The 33-year-old’s performance brought forth a hilarious reaction by Shreyanka Patil.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Patil posted a hilarious tweet where she compared how she started her hopes to get Perry out, but it ended in a completely opposite way.

“Started the day hoping to get Perry out in her 300th game. Ended the day with Perry hitting me for a six to finish the game! #JustPerryThings #GOAT @EllysePerry,” Patil tweeted.

If Shreyanka was on target in the 19th over, things would have been different: Harmanpreet Kaur

The second T20I of the series began with India women batting first and posting a total of 130 runs on the board in the first innings after Smriti Mandhana, and Richa Ghosh scored 23 runs each, and Deepti Sharma added 30 runs on the board.

As Australia easily managed to chase down the target and win the game, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came forward and opined that if Patil had been on target in the 19th over, things could have been different for the hosts. The comments brought forth a negative reaction from the fans, as many blamed the skipper for throwing the youngster under the bus.

"[While Bowling] we were getting those opportunities and taking wickets in the middle, that's a positive. If Shreyanka was on target in the 19th over, things would have been different but these close games help to identify areas to improve." Harmanpreet Kaur said in the post-match press conference.
