Suresh Raina is all set to feature for Air India in the All India Coromandel King Moin-Ud Dowlah Gold Cup tournament scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from August 22nd to August 31st. The batsman who has fallen out of favor of the selectors will have another opportunity to prove his mettle to the board.

Background:

Suresh Raina was an integral part of the Indian squad for the limited over formats just a few years ago. The batsman has been doing everything possible to make his way back into the national team. He played his last ODI in the year of 2015 before being dropped for his inconsistency with his form. However, his last T20 game for India came earlier this year in February.

Raina was recalled into the national team last year for a One Day International series against the Kiwis. Unfortunately for the batsman, Raina could not play a single game as he fell victim to an illness. In the T20 series against England earlier this year, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer proved his capabilities once again by finishing the series with 104 runs, which was the third highest by any batsman in the series.

Raina had a stellar campaign in the Indian Premier League this season as the batsman gathered a staggering 442 runs in the tournament. Though his team Gujarat Lions had a horrible season, Raina was in blistering form with the bat. His stats in the high-intensity tournament proves that he has still got a lot left in him that can benefit Indian cricket. Raina was ignored for the Sri Lanka series that is currently in progress.

The main story:

Raina was ignored for the Sri Lanka series that is currently in progress. However, the cricketer is known to be a fighter and is ready to go back to the grueling domestic circuit to make a path for his return. He took to Twitter to express his excitement about participating in the All India Coromandel King Moin-Ud Dowlah Gold Cup.
