The T20 season in the Indian domestic cricket has arrived. Leading up to the IPL 2019, all the domestic teams will indulge in the shortest format in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19. The first round of play in the tournament was terrific. The performances from Mumbai and Bengal headlined the Round 1 of the domestic tournament.

Playing against Sikkim, Mumbai put up a massive total of 258 runs on the board. A 55-ball 147 from Shreyas Iyer and a 33-ball 63 from Suryakumar Yadav helped the side put such a big total. This 147 from Shreyas Iyer is also now the highest score by an Indian in T20s. The cricketer surpassed Rishabh Pant’s 128* during the IPL 2018. Mumbai registered a 154-run win as Sikkim could only get 104 runs in 20 overs.

Bengal’s encounter against Mizoram was dictated by Abhimanyu Easwaran who scored an unbeaten 107 off 56 balls. While his side put up 221 runs, the opposition was bowled out for just 62 conceding a 159-run win. Jharkhand and Puducherry managed to win by a three-run margin in their respective games. RCB’s new recruit Prayas Barman picked up a four-wicket haul in the game.

Cheteshwar Pujara‘s first T20 century went in vain as the Railways comfortably chased down the target of 189. A 39-ball 74 from Manish Pandey was another highlight of the day. A 5/9 from Vikas Yadav couldn’t save the game for his side, Services. Atit Sheth picked up a 5-wicket haul for Baroda.
