TNPL 2018: A 33-day exciting schedule awaits cricket aficionados

Big names including the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, and Dinesh Karthik are expected to grace their presence.

The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has been a massive extravaganza in the city. The stadiums remain jam-packed and there has been no dearth of excitement in the erstwhile editions of the tournament. In the second season, the Chepauk Super Gillies beat the TUTI Patriots by six wickets to bag the prestigious championship. The Patriots won the opening season in 2016.

The event is into its third season and the hype surrounding the same has been on an escalation. To add to the delight of the supporters, the dates for TNPL 3 has been announced. It will take place from July 11 to August 12.

32 matches in TNPL 3

“It was decided to have a majority of the matches in Tirunelveli and Dindigul so as to provide more exposure to the next generation of players from the districts to high-quality cricket live,” Rl Palani, the joint secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) was quoted as saying by the media.

The 33-day orgy consists of 32 matches with 8 participating teams. The three venues for this season will be ICL-Sankar Nagar cricket ground in Tirunelveli, the NPR College ground in Natham (Dindigul) and the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

While Tirunelveli and Dindigul will be the host to 14 matches each, Chepauk is allotted only 4 contests. Matches will start at 7:15 pm on all days while on Sundays there will be an additional match starting from 3:15 pm.

Several big names including the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, and Dinesh Karthik are expected to grace their presence on the cricket pitch for their respective franchises. The opening match is scheduled to be played between the Dindigul Dragons and the Ruby Trichy Warriors from 7:15 pm at the ICL – Sankar Nagar Ground, Tirunelveli.
