Ben Laughlin was born on 3rd October 1982 at Box Hill, Victoria, Australia in a cricketing family.

Ben Laughlin grew up in a cricketing environment. His father Trevor Laughlin was an international cricketer. He played three tests and six ODI’s from 1978 to 1979 for Australia.

Ben Laughlin moved to Scotland at the age of 16 and played there until the age of 22 for Fergusile club and later on for Clydesdale Cricket club.

Ben Laughlin began his domestic career in Queensland and made headlines with his outstanding performances. He picked 23 wickets in 11 matches in the Ford Ranger Cup.

Laughlin has been the chief architect of Hobart Hurricanes Big Bash league campaign. He emerged as their leading wicket-taker in the second season with them. In fact, he is the highest overall wicket-taker in Big Bash League with 48 scalps to his name in the tournament.

8. International Call-up after an impressive domestic season
On March 2009, Laughlin was called-up to play five ODI’s and two Twenty20 internationals against the Proteas after producing several match winning performances in the domestic circuit. He performed fairly in that series. Overall, he took 4 wickets, two catches and a run out in the series.
9. Fewer opportunities
Even after debuting for Australia in the year 2009, he was neither selected for the world T20 and nor did he secure a national contract. However, he made a comeback to the highest level again after four years against Sri Lanka on the back of strong performances for Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes. Injuries and health issues have also affected his promising career.
