Peter Fulton is opening batsman who was once a very prolific run scorer for New Zealand. His tall and huge stature makes many mistake him for tear away fast bowler. After a couple of year at the top, Fulton began to struggle with his form and eventually went out of favor of the selectors. Fulton then began to focus on domestic cricket and has been a vital part of the Canterbury Cricket team. His team mates in the club team describe him as team man who is stubborn, argumentative yet sarcastic in nature.

Peter Gordon Fulton was born on 1st February 1979 in Christchurch, Canterbury.

Fulton remember his first memories of cricket as “Watching my father play club cricket and wondering what the big silver thing was they were all drinking out of after the game? “

3. Highest first class score by a New Zealander:

Peter Fulton holds the record for scoring the highest individual score first class cricket. He scored 301* for Canterbury against Auckland at Christchurch in the 2002/2003 season. This knock was his turning point of the career and brought him under limelight.

4. Nickname:

Fulton is famously nicknamed as “Two-Metre Peter” for his tall frame. His teammates at Canterbury also call him ‘Stick.’

5. Family:

Fulton comes from a well recognised cricketing family. His uncle Roddy Fulton played and captained both Canterbury and Northern Districts from 1972-1985. His brother David Fulton is also a first class cricketer.

6. Test Debut:

Fulton made his debut on March 2006 against the West Indies at Auckland.

7. ODI debut:

The right handed batsman made his ODI debut against Bangladesh at Chittagong on 2nd November 2004.

8. A rugby player:

Fulton is former Rugby player for Canterbury Country.

9. Long term relationship with Rugby:

Fulton is married to Libby Retallick. Retallick is sister to Blues lock Cullum Retallick and cousin to Chiefs big-man Brodie Retallick.

10. Most notable performance:

On March 2013, Fulton made his first International Test century playing against England, and scored his second Test hundred in the match’s second innings. In doing so he became the fourth New Zealander to score a hundred in both innings of a Test match.
