Unlike today, not many nations were granted ODI and T20I status by the ICC hence, their matches did not classify as international matches. The Qualifiers for the ICC World Cup featured teams like the Netherlands, Scotland among others and when the Dutch side made it to the 1996 World Cup they made history in a strange manner.

Playing against New Zealand in a group stage encounter at Vadodara, Netherlands fielded a player named Nolan Clarke who was 47 years and 240 days old at that time.

The 47-year-old player was playing his first-ever ODI match hence, he earned the record of being the oldest debutante in the history of ODI cricket. It is unlikely that this record will be ever be broken.
