The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a huge success. Fans saw several players entertaining all. There were several thrilling contests as well. However, the upcoming IPL 2022 promises to be a bigger and better one. One of the major reasons for this is the fact that there is going to be a mega auction before it. This means that there are going to be a major chunk of players who would have a new team.

We saw several Indian players deliver in the previous season. In all likelihood, they are going to attract big bids. So which are those Indian players who could get the big bucks in the upcoming mega auction? Today we shall be taking a look at –

Indian players who can get massive bids in IPL 2022

1) Venkatesh Iyer:

Venkatesh Iyer was the find of IPL 2021. He simply changed KKR’s fortunes. The opener’s abilities took the entire world by storm.

The explosive opener scored 370 runs in 10 games in the previous season. His batting average and strike rate were 41.11 and 128.47, respectively. This includes 4 fifties as well.

The fact that the conditions in the UAE were on the slower side makes his performance even more special. Every team would want an explosive opener like him. Besides, he can bowl as well.

2) Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi’s talent was never in doubt. However, his previous few seasons were topsy-turvy, to say the least. It is IPL 2021 which saw him work on his consistency.

The aggressive batter kept on scoring runs on a consistent basis. His ability to score quick runs irrespective of the situation was absolutely marvelous. His six in the penultimate over of the second Qualifier is what propelled the Knights to the IPL 2021 Final.

He scored 397 runs in the 16 innings in IPL 2021. His batting average and strike rate were 28.35 and 140.28. He also scored 2 fifties in the process.

3) Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal is considered to be one of the most talented youngsters in India. His consistency has been praiseworthy. In barely two years, he became a key player for his franchise.

After winning the Emerging Player Award in 2020, he ensured that he continued his good form in the next season as well. The RCB opener scored as many 411 runs in 14 games in the 14th season of the league.

His batting average and strike rate were 31.61 and 125.30 respectively. This includes a fifty as well as a hundred. As he is someone in whom teams can invest in as their future, one could expect a bidding war from him.

4) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh was the surprise package of the tournament. Despite performing well in the previous season, his performance in the recently concluded season was even better. It didn’t seem like he was an uncapped bowler.

With the kind of temperament he showed, it seemed as if he was a veteran or something on those lines. The Punjab Kings pacer was superb at the death overs. It is only a matter of time until he makes his international debut.

The seamer picked 18 wickets in 12 games. His bowling average and strike rate were 19.00 and 13.77, respectively. His economy rate was 8.27 despite bowling most of the tough overs.

5) Avesh Khan

It takes a special talent to be the best bowler in a team that consists of world-class bowlers like Rabada and Nortje. Avesh Khan received heaps of praises from all the cricket fans and experts. He has already been touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket.

He was sensational in the powerplay overs as well as in the death overs. His ability to generate the extra pace is his USP. Moreover, he has several variations up his sleeve too.

The pacer was the second-highest wicket-taker of IPL 2021. He picked as many as 24 wickets. Last but not the least, his economy rate was on the lower side as well (7.37).

6) Harshal Patel

Words can’t describe Harshal Patel’s performance in the 14th edition of the league. There is a reason why he won the MVP award. He turned out to be the biggest match-winner of the season.

The bowling all-rounder picked the most number of wickets in a single edition (32). His bowling average and strike rate were 14.34 and 10.56 respectively. This includes a fifer as well.

His hat-trick against MI was one of the highlights of the tournament. Add to that his batting abilities as well. Thus, it won’t be surprising if he grabs a lucrative deal in the upcoming mega auction.

7) Prithvi Shaw

Shaw is rated really highly among the cricket pundits. He has been regarded as the future of Indian cricket by several people. Despite his inconsistent run in the previous season, he proved his critics wrong in the latest season.

The opener scored as many as 479 runs in 15 games. His batting average and strike rate were 31.93 and 159.13, respectively. This includes 4 fifties as well.

The DC opener was seventh on the list of the most number of runs scored in IPL 2021. His aggressive approach in the powerplay overs is something that every team needs. Besides, he has age on his side.

8) Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently one of the youngest cricketers going around. However, his performances have been as good as an experienced star. Everyone saw a glimpse of his potential in the 14th season of the league.

The RR opener scored 249 runs in the 10 games. His batting average and strike rate were 24.90 and 148.21 respectively. This includes a fifty as well.

The range of shots displayed by him was commendable. It gets scarier when you realize that his best is yet to come. Thus, he seems all set to fetch a massive bid in the mega auction.

9) Shardul Thakur:

Despite his flaws, Thakur has proved his worth time and again. His ability to pick the crucial wickets is superb. His tendency to make things happen out of nowhere is tailor-made for this format.

The all-rounder was superb in the IPL 2021 as well. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. The CSK all-rounder picked 21 wickets in 16 matches.

His bowling average and strike rate were 25.09 and 17.09, respectively. Add to that his hitting abilities with the bat. Any team would love to have a three-dimensional player like him.

10) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is filled with talent. He has this ability to hit the ball a long way. His flexibility is what truly makes him an exciting package.

The MI batter was at his best during the previous season in 2020. However, he did struggle consistently during the recently concluded season in 2021. Despite that, his overall numbers seem more than decent.

The keeper batter scored 241 runs in 10 games in 2021. His batting average and strike rate were 26.77 and 133.88, respectively. His 82 off 40 against SRH in his team’s final game of the tournament was absolutely sensational.
