Over the years, cricket fans have shown the extent to which they can go in order to fulfil their dreams. Recently, another story has come to the fore, surrounding the ongoing high-voltage Ashes. A 12-year-old by the name of Max Waight has collected garbage bins of his neighbourhood for four years to watch the series live. The youngster saved money in order to travel to England.
Back in 2015, he had the privilege of watching his country lift the World Cup, defeating New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Thereafter, Max and his mother had planned to visit England and see the Aussies weave their magic in the Test series. However, Damien Wright, Max’s father, said that if his son could somehow earn 1500 Australian dollars then the dream would be realised.
It was then that Max and his mother came up with the idea of wheeling the garbage bins of their neighbours on every weekend for a charge of one dollar per house. Max wrote a letter to all his neighbours and had 10 customers in no time. In four years, the fund grew and Damien not only booked a ticket for Mark, but for the entire Waight family for the game at the Old Trafford.

“When I said it, I had to follow through. If he saved up the money I wasn’t going to let him down. It’s an amazing experience, we’ve got our whole family and another close family that we’re friends with. We’re just making memories,” Damien was quoted as saying in cricket.com.au.
Max’s joy doubled as apart from watching the Aussies live in the fourth Test in Manchester, he also spent some quality time with the likes of Steve Smith and Pat Cummins. James Pattinson, who isn’t a part of the fourth Test, handed him an Australian jersey signed by the entire team.
“I sat next to Steve Waugh, Justin Langer and Nathan Lyon. Justin Langer showed me the plan book which was amazing to see all his notes and talking to Steve Waugh was amazing too,” a delighted Max mentioned.
