1TV bags the broadcasting rights for the Shpageeza Super League

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has put pen to paper with Afghanistan TV channel 1 TV (1 television channel) as they signed a deal to broadcast the Shpageeza Cricket League exclusively on television and internet streams. Mohammad Fahim Hashimi, the founder of 1TV and Afghanistan Cricket Board head, Shukrullah Atef Mashal signed the contract on Tuesday in Kabul.

As per the contract, 1 Television now has the rights to broadcast the tournament exclusively. the league is set to commence in 3 weeks time and will run for a span of 15 days. The tournament was started in the year 2013 and this will be the 5th edition of the same. It is played every year at Alokozay Kabul International Cricket Ground, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Tournament background:

The tournament in 2016 consisted of 6 franchises going head to head against each other. the teams had players from the Afghanistan national team, overseas players, players from the Afghanistan ‘A’ team, players from the under 19 team and top performers from the respective regions taking part in the tournament.

The 12-day tournament was brought into reality with the main motive of promoting cricket in the country and attaining peace through sports. Due to the broadcasting rights given to 1TV, the people of the nation will be able to catch their heroes in action directly on TV without any headache.

Shpeenghar Tigers lifted the trophy in the inaugural edition of the tournament. The teams that participated in 2016 were Spinghar Prangan, Band-e-Amir Khamaran, Bost Satunki, Mes Ainak Atalan, Amu Nehangan, Kabul Bazan. The team were lead by Afghanistan national team players  Shafiqullah ShafaqRashid Khan Arman, Shahpoor Zadran, Mohammad Nabi Eisakhel,  Mirwais Ashraf and Asghar Stanikzai respectively.

The Kabul Bazan are the defending champions of the tournament as they won it last year in 2016. The 2014 edition was clinched by Mis Ainak Atalan and the 2015 version was won by Spinghar Zmaryan.
