Australia skipper Steve Smith is surprised to hear the comments from Bangladesh camp that Bangladesh would beat the visitors 2-0. Australia has not played the home side for long now and the Test series is expected to be a memorable one. Earlier this week, Shakib Al Hasan expressed his confidence about beating the Aussies in both the Test matches.

Steve Smith led side is scheduled to play 2 Tests on the tour which is being termed as their toughest to this country. The mind games have been started ahead of the first Test which is set to commence from Sunday. Australia has already announced their playing XI while the home team is yet to do the same.

The Main Story…

The 28-year-old Australian was quite surprised after hearing the statement made by the Bangladesh all-rounder. He also said that the Tigers seem to be very confident of themselves to come out and say that. “It’s pretty confident, isn’t it?” Smith said.

The skipper also reminded the home team that they have only won 9 out of their 100 Test matches so far but hailed them for their improvement off late in the longest format of the game. “I think Bangladesh have only won nine of their 100 games so it’s very confident. “Look, they are obviously confident about their skillset at the moment. They are at home and most teams play well at home and Bangladesh has been playing well at home so it’s going to be a good challenge for us,” the member of the 2015 World Cup winning team said.

The skipper also expressed his opinion about his counterpart and said he has improved a lot as a captain over the years. “I have not played a lot against Mushfiqur as a captain but I think he has improved a lot in the last couple of years in his game. He has scored some valuable runs for Bangladesh. I think he will be looking forward to playing this series against Australia,” he concluded.
