Eat, sleep, take wickets and repeat- this has been the scenario with Shahbaz Nadeem, the par excellence Jharkhand spinner. The 29-year-old has been the best in the business in the domestic cricket for the last few seasons, however, been luckless to have not played international cricket yet. He was last year picked in India’s T20 series against the Windies and was unlucky to not appear in any match.

With 24 wickets in nine matches including a historical 8/10 spell, Shahbaz finished the 50-overs tourney, Vijay Hazare Trophy as the highest wicket-getter. The left-arm orthodox spinner has also been regular amongst the wickets for India A in all the formats. Meanwhile, with the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and now Krunal Pandya having sealed a spot in the team, Nadeem’s chances look slim as of now.
