When Yuvraj Singh mauled Broad, he scored the most runs (36) in a single over in T20 cricket. However, the record lasted only for four years. In the 2011 edition of the Indian Premier League, Chris Gayle hammered 37 against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala.

Playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Universe Boss laid into left-arm speedster Prashant Parmeshwaran, who also churned out a no-ball. In the very next year, it was Scott Styris’ turn to pummel James Fuller for 38 runs while playing for Sussex in the T20 Blast.

On March 2016, Hardik Pandya made the record his own in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Representing Baroda, he smashed Delhi medium pacer Akash Sudan for 39 runs in an over. It remains to be seen whether or not any batsman manages to touch the 40-run mark.
