The attitude of Virender Sehwag and the finesse of Yuvraj Singh; Rishabh Pant is known as a clean striker and a basher of the cricket ball. He is audacious and is not afraid of taking risks. His hard-hitting prowess was evident from U19 days when he smashed Nepal bowlers for a 24-ball 75 and followed it up with a century against Namibia. In IPL he has scored runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 162 which has helped his cause for a call-up as a replacement in the World Cup squad as well.

Pant has two Test hundreds to his name, both overseas but is yet to cement his spot in the ODI side. The 21-year-old has been criticized for playing false shots and throwing his wicket away. Just as Pant was grinding against New Zealand in the semi-final, he played a ‘reckless’ shot and the debate for his big moment temperament sparkled once again. But that’s the brand of cricket Rishabh Pant is all about.

Although Pant is the definite choice as a successor to Dhoni, with Kishan and Samson around the corner, the 21-year-old has to prove himself as a consistent performer at the highest level.
