3 rule changes that can make IPL 2023 more interesting

The competition has been a huge success, and there might be a few more changes coming our way in the future.

This might come as a controversial opinion, but several teams exploit the current laws to get better fielders on the ground. The fast bowlers usually tend to get off the pitch after completing an over, and a comparatively better fielder, who’s warming the benches, takes the field.

If a player is fit enough to play the match, he should be able to field in the game too, irrespective of their roles. IPL allows two strategic timeouts in each innings that provide the necessary break to the players, so there is no need for an extra break for players, especially in the shortest format of the game.

A new provision would allow a substitute fielder to be on the pitch for just three overs unless and until there is a grave injury to a player. It’s natural for a player to leave the field in case of an emergency, and a substitute fielder should be allowed for that reason. But that fielder shouldn’t remain on the pitch after fielding for three overs in an innings.
