Hardik Pandya, India&#8217;s premier all-rounder, has been involved in a number of controversies during his cricket career. In January 2019, Pandya along with KL Rahul appeared in a TV show &#8216;Koffee with Karan&#8217; and made several controversial comments for which they received immediate backlash. His statements were categorised as &#8216;indecent&#8217;, &#8216;misogynistic&#8217; and &#8216;disgraceful&#8217;.
As a result, both Pandya and Rahul were handed a suspension until a pending investigation and were called back from the then ongoing tours of Australia and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/uncapped-all-rounder-fazle-mahmud-named-shakib-al-hasans-replacement-for-new-zealand-tests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New Zealand</a>. After the infamous incident, the 28-year-old Pandya lost all of his sponsorships and branding. In IPL 2019, he made a strong comeback, playing a significant role in MI&#8217;s tournament-winning effort.
He played some really useful cameos in India’s limited over matches versus Australia in 2020 and made a strong case as a finisher for his team. His career has been under scrutiny due to a lot of injuries and it will be interesting to see how he overcomes these setbacks in the future.

The current Australian captain in the longest format of the game, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/pat-cummins-tweet-about-his-donation-towards-covid-19-relief-work-in-india-becomes-most-retweeted-and-quoted-tweet-of-the-year-in-india/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pat Cummins</a>, had a topsy-turvy career. He debuted versus South Africa in 2011 and was considered a bright prodigy for Australia. Cummins took 1/38 and 6/79, becoming the second youngest Test cricketer to take six wickets in an innings. He then scored 13 runs in the second innings, including a four to win the match.
He was subsequently presented with the &#8216;Man of the Match&#8217; award. However, he played the Test match with a heel injury and his career was marred by injuries. Between 2012- 2016, he underwent many injuries related to stress fracture and had to unfortunately stay out from Test cricket. After five years, Cummins returned to Test cricket in 2017.
He became the leading wicket taker in the Ashes 2017-2018 with 23 wickets. Cummins gained confidence in his physique, and he went on to become the No. 1 Test bowler. With 29 wickets, he went on to become the leading wicket-taker in the 2019 Ashes as well.
In Tests, his efforts earned him vice-captaincy. Cummins also took over as captain of the Australian Test team after Tim Paine stepped down, making him only the second bowler to lead Australia in Tests.
