The fast bowler from Mumbai, Shardul Thakur, is one of the leading pacers in the domestic circuit at the moment. He was the leading wicket-taker for Mumbai in this year’s Ranji Trophy. With 41 wickets in 11 matches and an economy of just 2.75, Thakur was menacing as the frontline bowler. He has been with the Kings XI Punjab since the 2015 season but has played just 1 match across the two seasons. He recently showed his disappointment on social media after being perennially benched by the Kings. Despite his consistency in the domestic circuit, he has been ignored. In the 2014-15 season, Shardul was the joint highest wicket-taker with 48 wickets at 20.81. Certainly not something a promising player would like to see. He has now been released from the squad.
