4. MS Dhoni (9 runs from 27 balls vs Australia, 2007)

MS Dhoni was the backbone of the Indian middle-order for over a decade. He used to finish matches for fun and was an inspirational captain. Adding on, it was under his leadership, that many players went on to dominate world cricket.
However, he also has been criticized because of his slow approach to the game. MS Dhoni takes up some time to settle in, but if he gets out, the team gets into a slump. During the one-off T20I game against Australia in Melbourne in 2007, he was in a horrible situation. As the top order collapsed, the onus was on Dhoni to save his team.
But, he struggled to even rotate the strike. With Harbhajan Singh still waiting in the ranks, it would have been better if Dhoni would have retired out and allowed the former off-spinner to play the long handle. India eventually managed to post 73 runs, which was chased down by the hosts in just 11.2 overs with nine wickets to spare.
