One of the best batsmen to step inside the cricket field, Brian Lara is one more addition to this list. The southpaw played in the era of Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Ricky Ponting, Steve Waugh and Sachin Tendulkar, yet he made a name for himself. He was known as one of most attacking players of his era.

Lara retired from international cricket in 2007. It was not expected of such a big player to come back and play for any T20 league. Still, the charm that this showpiece exhibition possess is unique and the former Caribbean captain was not able to resist the temptation. He put in his name for the 2011 auction and surprisingly, no one bid for the big man.

Though he did play for ICL- The banned cricket league and a tournament in Zimbabwe. But, as IPL was a major event, nobody wanted to risk a player who hasn’t featured in any top-level tournament in past few years. The left-hander was 42 years old at that time, he never put in his name for the auctions again and the tournament was not able to star one of the best batsmen of all time.
